This might seem a little strange. Although I’m baking out of a cookie cookbook that has roughly seven chocolate chip cookie variations in it, I chose to make a recipe from the internet. I can’t help myself. When somebody calls this the “perfect” chocolate chip cookie, I can’t resist.
She may be right. This is certainly one of the best chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever made. The cookies baked up crunchy on the edges and chewy in the center. The dough itself has flavor (so many chocolate chip cookie doughs are tasteless, relying on the chocolate chips for flavor) due to three kinds of sugar. They baked up fat and round without much spread. And a sprinkle of salt on the tops contrasts nicely with the sweet cookie.

My family loved these cookies. My mother in law said they were the best chocolate chip cookies she ever had. I did add nuts…walnuts to half the batter. I didn’t actually eat any
May be after I lose a few pounds, or may be not~~
Look for turbinado sugar near brown sugar. I used a brand called “Sugar in the Raw” in a small brown paperish bag. Sometimes you can also find turbinado in bulk sections. Let me know how the cookies turn out.
Well, I went to the web site and printed out the recipe so I could try these. Chocolate chip is not my favorite cookie but if my pro-baker says that this may be the perfect recipe for them, I simply have no choice but to try it. The problem is that I have no idea what Turbinado sugar is. The web says it’s raw sugar. Is this something I’d find easily in the baking isle? If so, I can stop on my way home and have warm cookies and milk before bed! LOL
I think the tasteless dough is why I’m not a big fan of chocolate chip cookies. I like really yummy, soft PNB ones. Sounds like these might be the solution to the tasteless part. The sweet/salty part intrigues me. I can’t wait to try these.
